It seems like Apple has been pushing hard into "you don't need a case for your iPhone" territory recently, even going so far as to push the sustainability image of iPhones with its "Relax, It's an iPhone" ads. Perhaps that's why AppleCare for iPhones is Apple's least-used service.

Disable These iPhone SYSTEM SERVICES Now! [Ultimate Guide]

A report published by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) found that Apple Care for iPhones is the least-purchased service Apple offers. The report looked at all of Apple’s paid services, including iCloud storage (which, no surprise, was the most-purchased service), Apple Care and extended warranties, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple News, and Apple Podcasts.

CIRP found that only 17 percent of iPhone owners purchased Apple Care. It’s surprising when you consider how you’re forced to buy the service when you buy an iPhone, but there may be a good reason people don’t: cost.

Convenience may also play a role in that decision. Apple Care typically isn’t the cheapest way to protect your phone. The AppleCare+ plan costs $3.99 per month (or $79 for two years) for the iPhone SE, up to $9.99 per month (or $199 for two years) for the iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max. That gets you protection, but it doesn’t fully cover the cost of repairs. If you need to replace your screen or back glass, for example, you’ll still have to pay $29, and that’s only if the repair is covered. The monthly cost of the plan also increases — and in some cases doubles — if you opt for AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss.
