Travis Kelce may have found his leading man. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is in talks to helm Lionsgate’s action-comedy “Loose Cannons.” “John Wick” series director Chad Stahelski is on board to produce via his 87Eleven Entertainment banner, along with Jason Spitz and Alex Young. Tim Dowling is on board to write.

Production will likely take a while, as Kelce will be busy with the upcoming NFL season that starts in two weeks.

With 12 active seasons in the NFL, Kelce has made moves in Hollywood in recent years, starting with his popular podcast "New Heights," which he co-hosts with his brother, recently retired Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce. But Travis' romantic relationship with Taylor Swift has propelled him to the New Heights of fame in the past year. The athlete will host the game show "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" this fall. He also has a mysterious supporting role in Ryan Murphy's FX series "Grotesquerie," premiering Sept. 25.

“Loose Cannons” is also the title of a 1990 crime film starring Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd. Directed by Bob Clark, the film followed a cop who teams up with a detective with multiple personality disorder to track down a long-lost Nazi sex tape featuring Adolf Hitler. It’s quite a premise, but the film was a box office flop at the time. No matter, because Kelce’s debut film isn’t a remake of that Tristar release, despite sharing the same title. Instead, this new production centers on two deranged cops who are paired together in an attempt to set them both straight.
