Today's news that Activision has discontinued a popular upcoming Call of Duty mod intended to "remaster" the original Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is not sitting well with the community.

MW2 REMASTERED MULTIPLAYER IS FINALLY HERE!! (H2M Mod)

The H2 Multiplayer mod, or H2M, was a free mod in the works for 2017’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which featured a bunch of new content including maps, weapons, and more from 2009’s MW2. But just a day before its release, Activision issued a cease and desist today, shutting the mod down for good.

Shortly after the news broke, several key community members who have been involved with CoD for almost as long as anyone else spoke out, including OpTic owner H3CZ and FaZe Clan CEO Banks.

"It's like they can't go out of their way to make a community passionate about a game that they've all fallen in love with," H3CZ said of Activision's shutdown of Scump's streaming. "Now I would understand if these mod people were making people pay money to get in there, I would understand if these mod people were making people pay money for skins that they made themselves that they were taking money for, I understand all that. But if it's just a simple mod that improves the quality of the movement and the visuals of that game that no one is playing right now because it's so old, why are you interfering on that level? Don't you have bigger things to worry about?"
