Uber’s Safety Toolkit has added features to give riders more options if something goes wrong during a ride.

Uber Safety Toolkit is now IMPROVED in 2022

Rideshares like Uber are incredibly commonplace and convenient for many, but they can also be dangerous for both passengers and drivers. It’s something Uber (and other companies) have been working on for years. Now, the company has taken the next step with an update to its in-app Safety Toolkit.

The feature has been tweaked so that tapping the safety shield icon during a ride opens a menu full of large, easy-to-recognize icons representing your different options. As a rider or driver, you can report safety issues directly to Uber and share your trip status with friends and family.

ADT (the alarm company) also participates with an additional feature to get in touch with one of their safety experts. By getting in touch with ADT, the safety expert can monitor your journey and stay in touch (via text or phone), and they can contact 911 on your behalf if necessary. It is meant to be a safety net for non-critical situations where immediate assistance may not be required.
