Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman may have said goodbye to the series after its final season, but he hopes this isn't the end.

The show, based on the comic books by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, concluded with a final, yet somewhat hopeful, post-credits scene. While this is the end of this story that’s been told for the past five years, Blackman told The Hollywood Reporter that there’s room for more stories with different characters.

"Ultimately, it really depends on Netflix — and we've talked about it and there's a lot of variables — but I think there's a great story with young Hazel [Cameron Britton] and Cha-Cha [Blige] going forward. There's The Commission, of course. I think there's also some wonderful stories with some other secondary characters," Blackman said. "What's great about our world is that we can crossover with our main characters at any point, because in a wonderful time-traveling world, you can end up with anyone at any point."

But while Blackman sees potential, he admits it is not within his power.
