On April 26th, Counter-Strike 2 players began witnessing a new wave of VAC bans, with Valve targeting hundreds of cheaters. By May 8th, tens of thousands of cheaters had apparently been banned.

Valve starts new wave of bans

Over the course of nearly two weeks, the ban wave has taken down “at least 26,000 accounts,” according to CS2stats. The site shared detailed information about the bans with CS2 content creator Gabe Follower, who posted it on X. It turns out most of them were VAC bans, but there were a few gaming bans in between as well.

Regardless, while it's not as big a number as we'd hoped, it's still a substantial number of cheaters who have been removed from the game. Since the ban wave began in late April, players have reported seeing fewer cheaters in their games.
