Ditto was one of the biggest stars at this weekend’s Pokémon North America International Championships (NAIC), and Dot Esports spoke with VGC veteran Jeudy Azzarelli about his impressive run with the Transformed Pokémon and how to use it.

Over on the VGC side of things, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet meta is quite diverse in Regulation G, and that was certainly on display at NAIC this weekend. While the usage lists were still led by the usual suspects like Incineroar and Urshifu, we also saw tons of niche picks on stream, such as Alex Underhill's Electabuzz, Shiliang Tang's Wo-Chien, and Jeudy Azzarelli's Ditto. Ditto even claimed the final spot on the top 12 most used Pokémon list on day two of the event.

Dot Esports was at NAIC and the trip was provided by The Pokémon Company. We had the chance to talk to Azzarelli about Ditto’s success, the future of Ditto in the meta, and tips on how to use it.

Ditto is a very unique Pokémon that automatically transforms into the opposing ‘mon directly opposite it with its signature Imposter ability. It wasn’t viable in previous Gen IX formats, but it finally gets its chance to shine in the current Regulation G meta, where players are limited to one restricted Legendary Pokémon per team. By transforming into the opposing Legendary Pokémon, Ditto essentially gives you “two for the price of one,” as Azzarelli describes it.
