In this age of digital consumption, YouTube is the one platform that is used by everyone, regardless of their interests. While you want to listen to a music video without interruption, videos such as tutorials and guides may want you to skip to the part you want to watch.
NEW YouTube Chapters Tutorial: How to Add Timestamps to Your YouTube Videos
YouTube's product team is currently testing a new "Chapters" feature to help you navigate videos more easily. Chapters lets you skip ahead to a specific part of the video or rewatch a specific section without having to scroll through the bottom scroll bar like you normally would.
Chapters allow users to jump directly to a section of a video at any time. Users can also use them to rewatch a section of the video without having to manually search. In addition to allowing users to skip sections of content, chapters can be a great way to provide viewers with more information about a video.
The feature is currently in testing, and during the initial release, creators will need to include timestamps in their video descriptions to create chapters. For descriptions without timestamps, YouTube will not insert chapters into the video. Chapters in a YouTube video are available on both web and mobile apps.
