In The First Descendant, you increase your Mastery Rank and level up your Descendants separately. The maximum Mastery Rank is 30 and the maximum level for Descendants is 40. Increasing both is key to becoming stronger in The First Descendant and subsequently being able to tackle the most difficult content in the game.

The Mastery Rank is your overall level, which is then tied to the account. Increasing this Mastery Rank gives you access to new features, including increased Module capacity for your Descendants and weapons. These features are necessary to create the most optimal builds and dominate the battlefield.

You can increase your Mastery Rank by completing missions, increasing Weapon Proficiency, and leveling up your Descendants. After meeting the required EXP requirements, you will need to manually rank up.
