You don’t want to make the expansion too easy on yourself, but you also don’t want it to feel like you’re hitting a brick wall. I played Shadow of the Erdtree for hours for the review, so if you’re wondering what the best level to start the Elden Ring expansion is, I have the answer.
I recommend starting Shadow of the Erdtree with a level 150 character, but ultimately it's up to you. During Bandai Namco's preview event in Paris, all prebuilt characters were level 150. This felt about right for the challenges we faced: enemies were still tough and could kill us in a few hits, but we also dealt a fair amount of damage to elites and bosses ourselves.
For the best experience, make sure your character has 60 Vigor. All the new enemies do a lot of damage, and if you have less than 60 Vigor, you'll usually get two or three shots.
