Deciding when to change your profession in Dragon's Dogma 2 is crucial to optimizing your character's abilities and enjoying the game. From my gameplay experience, the flexibility to change professions adds a dynamic layer to how you approach different challenges in the game.

The best time to consider a profession is when you feel like your current one no longer suits your playstyle or you want to explore new strategies. If you want to maximize your character's potential, it can be beneficial to switch professions after you have acquired essential augmentations for your current class. Players often start with the Fighter profession and then move on to other professions such as Archer, Mage, or Assassin to experience different playstyles and unlock valuable skills.

Each new vocation costs 100 DCP to acquire. I recommend mastering your starting vocation before moving on to other potential vocations, as by then you will not only have a firmer grasp on the vocation system, but you will have accumulated enough DCP to not feel like changing vocations is a burden. I started out as a Fighter, but after gaining enough augmentations and DCP at level 18, I switched my vocation to a more supportive Thief role, as I gained two additional Fighter spies to help take the brunt of combat head-on.
