Apple has just released its first Rapid Security Response for iPhone, revolutionizing the fight against malware and security breaches.

iOS 16.4.1(a) – Rapid Security Response – New Type of Software Update!

Until now, iPhone and iPad security fixes had to wait for a regular software update for your device, and then you might not update for a few weeks. In the meantime, all the patched exploits are out in the wild, ready to attack your phone. Rapid Security Responses are small patches that, as the name suggests, can be deployed quickly. But an RSR is a lot more—and a little less—than a regular software update.

“By limiting these patches to only security fixes, Apple reduces the amount of code it has to develop and test, the time between updates, and the total size of the patch each device must download. Overall, this reduces the window of exposure and helps neutralize exploits that put users and organizations at risk,” Aaron Webb, senior product manager at Apple device management and security company Jamf, told Lifewire via email.

There are three reasons why the RSR is better than waiting for a software update and deploying all your security patches in there.
