App Tracking Transparency requires apps to get user consent to track them. When an app wants to track your data and activity across the web and apps, it is forced to show a box asking you to do so. Most users will opt out of this.

"Apple's push for transparency will certainly have ramifications for its larger tech neighbors," Jeremey Tillman, president of privacy app company Ghostery, told Lifewire via email. "We're already seeing Google delay updating their apps to avoid complying with the new privacy report, and that hasn't gone unnoticed by consumers."
