Destiny 2 offers players a wealth of activities, whether they’re searching for fashion, exploring a destination, or obtaining a scroll of their favorite weapon.

How to Fix the Problem Contacting Destiny 2 Servers (PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC)

Despite the vast array of options, players can only play Destiny 2 when the servers are up and running. If the servers experience outages or interruptions, you’ll see the classic “Server Offline” message when you try to log in, indicating that something is wrong with the servers.

The Destiny 2 servers can go down for a number of reasons. The servers typically undergo a short maintenance window before a hotfix is released, during which players are kicked out of all activity. This period typically lasts around two hours and 15 minutes (and we miss the days when the downtime was only 15 minutes). Larger content drops, like seasons and expansions, typically have longer maintenance windows. These can last several hours, and in the case of expansions, can even go down overnight.

There’s also the possibility that Destiny 2 could go into emergency maintenance due to an unforeseen issue. Connectivity issues could render the servers inaccessible, and Bungie could take the servers offline while it investigates bugs, glitches, and errors in the game. This is clearly a drastic measure, meaning that the underlying causes are serious enough to warrant the developer cutting off access to the game.
