Apple’s been pushing the video capabilities of its top-end iPhones, and they’re impressive indeed, capable of capturing stunning 4K video at high frame rates. But if you want to offload that video to a Mac, PC, or iPad for editing, you’ll be doing so via the ancient USB 2.0 connection. According to a report from supply-chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, next year’s iPhone Pro will finally fix that. The catch? The regular iPhone 15 will remain as is.

“The iPhone Pro is a powerful phone, but the lack of a USB 3.0 port means transferring videos and photos off the device can be excruciatingly slow,” Jeroen van Gils, managing director at networking technology company Lifi.co, told Lifewire via email.

The iPhone can capture ProRes video up to 4K at 30 fps. Open your phone's camera settings and you'll see that "One minute of 10-bit HDR ProRes is approximately 1.7GB for HD and 6GB for 4K."
