Windows 12 is a potential future update to the Windows operating system. It’s expected to be released in 2025, although there’s no official confirmation from Microsoft yet. Some potential features for this successor to Windows 11 include UI improvements, better Android app support, AI, and a greater reliance on the Settings app.
How Windows 12 Will Change Everything (Leaked Features)
I should start by saying that I can’t verify that Windows 12 is real yet. It’s not like there’s a huge chance that Microsoft will make a Windows 9 move and skip that version in favor of W13. It’s just that neither I nor anyone else has heard anything official from the company.
That said, I do think it’s coming. It’s just not clear when. The company may choose to pile on updates to Windows 11 for a while before moving on to a major version upgrade.
In that regard, Windows 12 may not even be the name Microsoft chooses (think XP and Vista), but let's leave it at that for now. The codenames I've seen for this version of Windows are Hudson Valley and Next Valley.
