Whether you’re a veteran of XDefiant’s closed beta or a new player, everyone will have to start over from scratch when the game launches on May 21. That means unlocking all of the additional weapons except the default ones.

With the exception of the battle pass-exclusive MDR assault rifle, every weapon in XDefiant can be unlocked by completing a challenge specific to that weapon. Unlike Call of Duty: MW3, which required you to specify a specific item you’re trying to unlock, it appears you’ll be able to progress through all of them as you play XDefiant, assuming you can get past the matchmaking issues.

Once each weapon is unlocked, you’ll need to continue using and leveling it up to unlock additional attachments and build your perfect loadout. The same goes for your standard weapons like the M4A1 and MP5. Devices like the Flashbang and Sticky Grenade, as well as faction characters, will also need to be unlocked by completing challenges.
