Glance, an Indian tech company, may soon be taking over your Android lock screens, courtesy of your mobile carriers.

Master iPhone with Lock Screen Widgets

Glance is a $2 billion subsidiary of ad tech giant InMobi, backed by Google and other investors. It delivers a variety of media to the home screens of participating phones, and for some people it can actually be quite compelling. Glance places a feed of news, quizzes, photos, videos, and more right on your lock screen.

"The potential of lock screen ads is compelling to advertisers. Because lock screens are viewed hundreds of times a day and lack visual clutter, they are highly impactful and engaging ad placements when done right, which Glance is apparently willing to do," financial analyst Candice Moses told Lifewire via email. "Opening up additional channels to connect people with relevant content can have a big impact for marketers, as long as it's relevant and easy to use."

If you’ve ever seen people using their phones on public transportation or while waiting in line, you’re familiar with the constant swiping to scroll through messages, Snapchat, TikTok, etc. If you’ve never seen this happen to other people, it’s probably because you do it yourself.
