The film, set to shoot in 2026, will be directed by "Tove" director Zaida Bergroth and written by Ville Virtanen and Birthe Wingren. Virtanen is an established actor known for Netflix's "Bordertown" and will soon be seen in Klaus Härö's upcoming drama "Never Alone."

Based on the award-winning novel by Kjell Westö, the story is set in Helsinki in 1938. Just before World War II, Hitler's actions arouse anger and admiration among the members of the eponymous gentlemen's club.

As old friends of lawyer Claes Thune gather in his office, his new secretary, Matilda Wiik, recognizes a voice from her past. During the Finnish Civil War, she experienced horrors that she tried to forget as best she could. Now she is face to face with her tormentor again, but he remains clueless.
